Hiking
CASA TINTO TRAIL
You can access a trail that leads directly from Casa Tinto up to the top of the hillside and take in the beautiful views of the city and far beyond.
COIMATA WATERFALLS
Coimata Waterfalls are a perfect escape from Tarija. Located approximately 14 km from the city centre, this natural wonder is best enjoyed by biking along the scenic route. After Tomatitas, the road becomes smaller and quieter, offering picturesque views of the countryside and local village life.
While the waterfalls themselves may not be extraordinary, they are certainly worth a visit. After your adventure, unwind at the nearby Pasarela hotel, where you can relax on the terrace with an ice cream, soaking in the breathtaking views.
INCA TRAIL
Just under 2 hours away from Casa Tinto you will discover one of Bolivia’s remaining Inca Trails. El Camino Del Inca remains a hidden gem, despite its rich heritage. To embark on this exhilarating hike, visitors must first register at the Sernap (Servicio Nacional de Áreas Protegidas) office in Tarija, where they will receive a basic map. However, due to the lack of detailed maps, it is highly recommended to go with a guide. We can arrange this through our partnership with Prometa.
The journey begins at the Taxara lakes, where three of the world’s six flamingo species reside. Along the way, you will encounter llamas, cows, and even condors! The trail descends from 3800 m to 2100 m, traversing diverse climates and ecosystems. The entire route spans approximately 20 km and can be completed in a single day. Additionally, after 12 km, hikers will reach the village of Calderilla, where they can find another Albergue, local eateries, and a small shop.
